The Gumby Project: Weeks 12 and 13

What a super-productive perfect day it has been! :) Lesson plans are finished, gas in the car, dinner was sufficiently NOMMED, and I'm caught up on Glee and ANTM. Finally had a chance to breathe and sort out these last two weeks of pictures. So, my Wednesday treat for all of you - more insights into my life and the life of my little green buddy.

Week 12

Sunday, March 20
Cleaning out my top desk drawer.
Meet my summer Disney World Fund,
currently living in my little tin princess box.
Disney World AND Harry Potter World (and apparently maybe New York?)
= EPIC SUMMER.

Monday, March 21
Turbo school work day.
I spent the evening camped out at the kitchen table
working on lesson plans, response journals and miscellaneous to-do items,
trying to get ahead for the coming craziness that is SHOW WEEK.
All in all, pretty productive night.
Got all my homework and lessons done for the next two weeks.
Success.

Tuesday, March 22
LHsurprise!
The exec board took it upon ourselves to plan a fun surprise outing for the rest of LHS.
We hit up Double Dave's after rehearsal and then went to Main Event
for laser tag, glow golf and other mischief.
Typical, yes. But still fun!

Wednesday, March 23
No Picture.
Don't know what happened, sorry. :(

Thursday, March 24
Movie Night at Maranda and Ashlee's.
I believe this was our Twilight watching party,
in preparation for the weekend's Master Pancake at Alamo Drafthouse.
Bad movie, good friends, perfect evening. :)
And of course, can't have a movie night
without Chili's chips and salsa and ranch.

Friday, March 25
Family dinner with Celeste, Tucker and AYO. :)
I should have been studying for my certification test,
but I decided to go another route with my Friday.
The boys made pizza and other yummy treats, and we shared lots of laughs and fun stories.
Later, we planned and executed a splendid birthday outing/photo shoot for Megan P.
Gotta get down on Friday, right?!

Saturday, March 26
This is the day I got in a wreck and missed my teacher certification test.
Cool, right? Yeah - not to mention I was missing show week rehearsal
and getting an absence for that as well.
I'm driving down 35 on the way to my test, and
some guy hits me and pushes me into the car in front of me- perfecttt.
You can see his car in this picture- the blue one.
It's way worse than mine was.
BUT mine is still in the shop a week and a half later, so yeah.
I couldn't find Gumby at the time, but this was picture worthy, so I'm using it anyway.

Sunday, March 27
A bunch of us spent the night at Cham's parent's house the night before -
they were out of town, so we were house sitting.
Maranda, Cham, Celeste and AYO woke up early on Sunday to go to their church jobs,
while Tucker, Luis and I stayed behind to cook breakfast.
It was a perfect morning - sun shining in the windows,
chocolate chip pancakes, needtobreathe playing from my computer,
surrounded by people I love.
So peaceful and everything a springtime Sunday morning should be.
Playing house is fun!

Week 13

Monday, 3/28
My "take to school tomorrow" pile, as I'm getting it ready
before I go to bed at stinking 1:30am.
(Shut up, 1:30 is late when you're a teacher.)
James and the Giant Peach, for my reading group with my GT kids.
My planner - never leave home without it.
And my finally finished, printed off copy of our show programs,
to take to Randi so they can be printed.
I swear, show programs are the thorn in my side.
It took me forever to finish them, even thought I already had a template
and most of the information that needed to be put in.
I stayed up WAY past my bedtime to finish them so that they could be ready to turn in by Tuesday.
Dedication, right? The best part -
I get to rehearsal on Tuesday, turbo tired,
and I find out that they don't need to be turned in until Wednesday.
"Grool."
#thanksfortellingmethatearlier

Tuesday, 3/29
Show week rehearsal in McCullough.
Boys working on "In my Life."

Wednesday, 3/30
No rehearsal today!
I got a chance to breathe and catch up on some last minute costume/GSB shopping.
Here's a snapshot of part of my room.
Show week makes my room look like a disaster area.

Thursday, 3/31
Dress rehearsal preparation!
I'm a creature of habit, I guess -
I always sit at the same mirror.

Friday, 4/1
Also couldn't find Gumby when I took this picture, but it was a moment I needed to capture.
This is what our classroom looked like at the end of the day -
all posters covered or taken down in preparation for Monday and Tuesday's TAKS test!
It's kind of a BFD.
I'm not a fan, and my kids were definitely nervous about it.
BUT after a good day of last minute prep, some good luck pencils
and an exciting Monday morning pep-rally,
I think they did a great job on both of their tests.
Now, on to Science on April 28th!

Saturday, 4/2
The day of my last Longhorn Singers show.
Never thought that day would actually come.
Or maybe, I hoped that it wouldn't?

Sunday, 4/3
This is the day my body crashed and I sort of got the flu.
I spent all of Sunday and Monday in bed dying.
No pictures, nothing to see there, I promise.

No worries though, I am fully recovered now,
and we will continue our Gumby saga next time with Tuesday, April 5.

Now, on to reading! What am I currently reading? --:
Matilda, because I've always wanted to read it.
James and the Giant Peach, with my GT kids.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as a post-TAKS read aloud treat for my 5th graders.
How did this happen that I am reading 3 Roald Dahl books at once? I have no idea.
I'm not complaining though - definitely on my list of favorite authors. :)

Hope the show went well! :) In My Life... that's what, the third time in 7 years? :)

Umm, JUST saw the Deathly Hallows at the bottom of your page, you huge dork (read: amazing).

In 3rd grade, my GT classmates and I performed a puppet show with handmade puppets for James and the Giant peach for our classmates. It was AWESOME! I was the ladybug and I made my puppet like a GLOVE, so my fingers were the legs. I thought I was the shit. Wish I still had it. Tell your kids to keep EVERYTHING!
