The Gumby Project: Week 2

 Monday, January 10

I got a library card! I spent a good amount of time exploring
and finally picked out three items worthy of being the first things checked out
on my card. I ended up getting a really interesting ginormous book of everything Disney,
Friday Night Lights (which I am currently in the middle of reading and it is AWESOME)
and Prisoner of Azkaban on CD to listen to while driving to and from Dallas this week.

Tuesday, January 11
For as long as I can remember, Singers have had this running joke about going to Chilis.
I don't think I could explain it if I tried, so I'll leave it at that.
Anyway, most of the time we joke about going to Chilis,
but sometimes we actually go there. This is one of those times.
Maranda and I got there at 8, after her dance class,
only to discover that appetizer happy hour starts at 9. Oh well.

Wednesday, January 12
Wednesday I drove to Terrell to spend a few days with family.
I went with my grandma to pick up my 4-year-old cousin from school,
and we spent the afternoon at his house playing Connect 4 and spelling words
such as "cat," "dog," and "spider" on his magnetic letter board.

Thursday, January 13
Back-to-School shopping at Grapevine Mills with my mom and grandma.
It was definitely a fun day, and I got some good "teacher clothes" too.
I found a few of these coin things in the mall, and was reminded of how
I was obsessed with them when I was little.

Friday, January 14
Back to Austin, and a fun evening with some Singers.
Luis taught AYO and Tucker how to make migas while Anjali and I played speed scrabble.
Tucker even cleaned up my kitchen afterward, which was absolutely wonderful!

Saturday, January 15
This is the day we were supposed to go to the zoo,
but it was raining and cold outside, so we decided to postpone.
We ended up painting pottery at Cafe Monet all afternoon,
which was really fun and super chill. Anjali and I made coffee mugs,
Liz made a mocha cup/saucer, Maranda made a vase
and AYO made a sweet 'drank cup' for LHparties. Tucker didn't make pottery,
he occupied himself making a stop-motion movie out of stamps.
It's still in production.

Sunday, January 16
Everybody, meet Habib Jeffrey Sky-Paulk the Third.
The previous Habibs are no longer with us due to the fact that the water here
is not conducive to housing fish. I didn't realize this until it was too late,
and once that happened I decided to take a break
so that I wouldn't kill any more innocent fish.
I decided that now was the perfect time to rescue Habib III from Petco,
since it is the beginning of a new semester and a fresh start.
This time, I invested in some drops that make the water safe,
and 24 hours later he is still alive and happy!
Kate Swanson, the legacy continues.
