the sing-off: night 1.

I am in love with this show. I watched it last Christmas break with my family, and it was really fun to be able to teach them about music through it. It was definitely a really fun way to spend the evenings - trying to explain to my parents what "tone" and "blend" and "dynamics" were, and hearing my dad try to talk about the "tenors" and the "sopranos" and being so proud of himself for actually knowing what all of that meant.

Anyway, IT'S BACK. I missed the first two episodes, so I've spent today catching up- and I am super excited because I feel like the overall talent is way better this year, so huzzah, to you, Sing-Off.

I'm about to start the second episode, but FIRST - my favorites from night 1:

Shout Out to Fall '07?

This Love - Committed
These guys are precious. I'm serious.

Save The Last Dance for Me - Jerry Lawson and Talk of the Town
I'm not really sure how these guys who have been doing this forever can compete on the same playing field as 18-year-old kids, but I do love them.

Baby - Eleventh Hour
I didn't LOVE this, but I think it's because the arrangement was weird. I am rooting for these guys because they are high schoolers, and for the most part, they are legit. (Also, JB has a special place in my heart- SHOUT OUT to Sky 2.) I am also rooting for them because they have super great attitudes and have already beat out these guys---

Good Girls Go Bad - Pitch Slapped (not one of my favorites, but I have something to say about it, so I put it up anyway.)
Not that this was bad, It just wasn't that good. These guys are from the Berklee College of Music, and all they said in their video was, "We are AWESOME because we're all music majors. We are definitely going to win." But honestly, for a group of music majors for the #1 College of Music in the country (or so they said...) this wasn't awesome. Should have been way better. Next time, spend more time practicing, and less time talking about your major.

Grace Kelly - The Whiffenpoofs
This was for sure my favorite. I mean, seriously, can LHS have a mixer with them?

LOVE IT. Now on to Episode 2!
